Founder

Dr. Vikrant A. Adsool

Vikrant competed technical education at universities in India, Canada and United States; and his MBA from Singapore. Since joining Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences, A*STAR, in 2010 he has led several projects in areas such as total synthesis of natural products, medicinal chemistry, and synthetic methodology. However, development and application of novel molecular building-blocks is at the core of Vikrant’s research interest. Having explored the synthetic feasibility of selected novel motifs, Vikrant strongly believes that the technology is ripe for development of new applications, and that such approach is best launched on a commercial platform. SciClix, he believes, will provide such a platform.

About me

He then worked as a Scientist at Amylin Pharmaceuticals performing peptide drug discovery for diabetes and other metabolic diseases. Followed by this, Dr. Ferrer assumed the role of the Director of a Core Peptide facility at The Burnham Institute in La Jolla, CA (now: Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute) in the Erkki Ruoslahti Laboratory for the synthesis of Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) and tumor-homing peptides.

Since 2013, Dr. Ferrer is working as a Senior Scientist, in the p53 Laboratory at A* STAR, Singapore. Here, Dr. Ferrer leads the Peptide Science efforts in the development and implementation of A*STAR’s R&D strategies. During his current appointment Dr. Ferrer, along with Sir Dr. David Lane and Prof Greg Verdine lead the Visitor Investigator Program (VIP) grant. As a result, his participation as a peptide scientist in the program, Dr. Ferrer contributed to discover very active stapled peptides that re-activate p53 protein in several types of cancers, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Also, he is inventor or co-inventor in several patents related to the peptide field.
